10 Minute Timer

Ten minutes is the classic momentum trick. Promise yourself you will stop when the sand runs out. Most people do not stop, because getting started was the barrier, not staying started.

Set for 10 minutes and ready to start. Good for a focused burst, a tidy-up, or a warm-up before a longer block.

Ten minutes as a decision, not a session

Ten minutes is enough to find out whether a task is genuinely hard or merely unfamiliar. Most things that felt impossible turn out to be tedious, and tedious is survivable. Use it as a scouting run rather than an attempt.

Best suited to anyone avoiding one specific thing.

What should I do when the ten minutes are up?

Stop, or keep going, and both are wins. If you stopped, the task is now started and smaller than it was. If you kept going, the timer did its job and you can set a longer one.
