The short version: nothing you type or focus on ever leaves your device. We do measure how many people visit the site, because otherwise we have no idea whether anyone has found it.
1. What stays on your device
There is no account, no sign-in, and no server that receives your session. Everything you set up lives in your own browser’s local storage:
- your mode, block lengths, sounds and volumes, number look and theme;
- the intention you type before a session;
- today’s focus total;
- your analytics choice, if you were asked for one.
Clearing your browser data erases all of it. It is never uploaded, and we never see it.
2. What we measure
The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits. That is the whole purpose: to know how many people arrive, roughly where from, and whether the pages work.
What Google receives: the page you opened, the referring link, approximate location at country level, and basic device and performance information. Google truncates IP addresses before storage. Google processes this as described in Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
What Google never receives:
- anything you type — your intention text is never sent anywhere;
- your session data, durations, themes or focus history;
- any user ID or login. We cannot identify you, and we do not try to.
No advertising. Ad storage, ad personalisation and ad-user-data signals are switched off permanently, not merely defaulted off. We run no ads on this site and no remarketing.
Consent. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics storage is denied until you choose and you are asked before anything is stored. Elsewhere it is on by default. Either way you can decline, and your choice is remembered in your own browser.
Opting out anywhere: use Google’s browser opt-out add-on, or any tracker blocker — the timer works identically with analytics blocked.
/stage is never measured. It is our own recording surface for making videos, not a page for
visitors, and it carries no analytics at all.
3. Cookies
The only cookies on this site are Google Analytics’ own, and only where analytics is allowed. The timer itself uses no cookies — your settings are in local storage, which is not sent with requests. Declining analytics leaves the site fully working.
4. Your location is never requested
To move the sky with your day, the site reads your browser’s timezone (e.g. Asia/Kolkata) and
computes sunrise and sunset mathematically. There is no GPS, no permission prompt, and the timezone
is not sent anywhere. It is also what decides whether you are shown a consent prompt.
5. Other services this page touches
- Hosting. The site is static files on Cloudflare Pages, which keeps standard server logs to serve and protect the site.
- Fonts. Display fonts load from Google Fonts, so Google’s servers see the request for those font files.
- Outbound links. The Google Play badge and the Ko-fi support link go to services with their own privacy policies. We receive nothing back from them about you.
6. Children
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children, and this site carries no advertising. The analytics measure page visits, not people, and are never used to build profiles.
7. Deleting your data
Clear your browser’s site data for sustaintimer.com and everything the site kept is gone — there is nothing held on our side to delete. To remove yourself from analytics going forward, decline the prompt or use the opt-out add-on above.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
